    Jim,

Nice piece. Storytelling goes hand in hand with that other recently discovered marketing goal; engagement. What’s more engaging than a good story? Compelling storytelling facilitates consumer engagement very effectively. As that’s the goal of many marketers in our social media centric environment, storytelling has percolated to the top of the marketing toolbox.

Jim, great post. As a copywriter I’ve noticed much greater success through storytelling than traditional marketing. For one, consumers remember a good story. The key is to tell a story that relates to the product rather than just being cute or clever. The upcoming Super Bowl ads will be a perfect example of this.

Jim, I’ve always been a proponent of using stories. But correctly. Reading your book and your explanations has helped me with my freelance work to show clients that simply telling stories isn’t enough.
For instance, I’m working on projects for a continuing care retirement community. They have started a resident-run Center for Lifelong Learning. The projects I’m writing and pitching to the media relate to this center, which will show the lifestyle of the community – which is their brand.

So, thank you Jim for sharing your knowledge with us!

    Hi Jim,

I have learned that using story telling in trying to explain complex issues and process to people that don’t have knowledge to the processes of what I’m explain works great. I have taken that path in some marketing concepts and found that it helps to sell the concept, people get it, they cam relate to it.

Looking forward to reading the book….

    Hi Jim,
This is a good topic, but for those of us who are not familiar with the subtleties, a few direct links as examples could have provided deeper understanding.
Many thanks though, for addressing the subject.
